Quote of the Day

Martin Short, Co-Host on Regis and Kelly this morning, talking about Reality Shows in general, Jersey Shore on MTV, in particular:

"I hate all those shows. I am so bored by the celebration of ignorance."

Oh, he is my man. Well said, Marty!

  1. 100% agree! One downside to not having cable/satellite is that we don't have the few channels that play sitcom reruns. The upside however, is that we don't spend time watching sitcom reruns we've seen a dozen times because nothing else is on. I can't think of any reality shows we follow. We'll catch an occassional performance show, but don't follow any all the way through.

  2. Without satellite, and cable do you play cards or games more? Or just go to bed earlier?

  3. Ideally, we would go to bed earlier...not so! We still go to bed between 10 and 1030. There are a few nights we manage to get in early, but not as often as we should. We still have our shows on broadcast on Monday, Tuesday (now that Lost is back), and Thursday. We've picked up peices of other shows we wouldn't normally have watched.

One thing I noticed when we first stopped the satellite was that even with just a handful of channels Mike would still sit and channel surf complaining that there wasn't anything on. The only difference was the number of the channels, but he still spent the same amount of time doing it out of habit. He has gotten slightly better...we've watched a few of our movies and he gets a Redbox movie more frequently or trades movies with a buddy.

We have played games some and Mike is reading more, which I think is great. Mostly, we just get busy with life and fill the spaces individually when we don't plan something together.
